New Hampshire’s ski resorts are in the White Mountains. Here, you’ll find the most rugged, highest peaks in the Northeast, only a hundred miles from the Atlantic Ocean.
Throughout the winter, moist air sweeps in from the Atlantic. It is driven upward as it collides with the White Mountains. The air cools, moisture condenses, and snow accumulates. The equation is simple: Elevation + Atlantic moisture = Abundant Snow.
Average annual snowfall at New Hampshire ski resorts ranges from 100 to 200 inches. Compare this to an annual average of 48 inches in Boston. Skiing in New Hampshire is perfect for skiers of all ages and every experience level. Some resorts offer free learning areas, and all have expert runs.
Many consider Bretton Woods the birthplace of American alpine touring. Waterville Valley, North Conway, Bartlett, and Lincoln also have some of the best ski resorts in New Hampshire. Both Waterville Valley and Loon offer verticals of more than 2,000 feet. Some runs are two miles long. One Waterville Valley run is three miles long.

Attitash Mountain offers 68 trails on two mountains. The longest is two miles. Expert skiers tackle the steepest trail in the state. Beginners enjoy free access to the learning area.

A stay in the Lincoln area puts you close to highly rated skiing at Loon Mountain. Loon offers 61 trails and glades along with six terrain parks and the only superpipe in the state. Cannon Mountain and its challenging steeps are ten minutes to the north.
